The Lakdawala Lab at the University of Pittsburgh

Welcome! Our lab focuses on emergence of pandemic influenza viruses. We use cutting-edge microscopy tools to study influenza assembly and reassortment and have built a BSL2 light-sheet microscope (diSPIM) to visualize the dynamics of influenza assembly in live cells (check out or image gallery and movies page). In addition, we study influenza airborne transmission dynamics in the ferret model system.
